Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob Explains the “Seduce and Abandon” Experience
Leah McSweeney of Married to the Mob met up with Scion AV All Purpose Show correspondent Stevie Lee to let him know all about the brand’s “Seduce and Abandon” retail experience at Scion AV Installation in Los Angeles. Before the opening night party, McSweeney gave Lee a tour of the show. Beyond showing some of the products that were for sale, she explained the foundations of Married to the Mob’s ten-year history. In this extended interview, McSweeney remembers her company’s informal beginnings on a New York City stoop when she was hanging out with some girlfriends and got the idea to start a female-centric streetwear brand. Now it’s now grown to a respected, worldview force.
Married to the Mob’s line is built around “bitchisms,” McSweeney’s term for the phrases that are boldly emblazoned on their products. Here she explains the meaning behind a few of the most famous ones, including “Falling in Love Kills Creativity,” “Men Are the New Women” and the line that gave the show its fantastic title.
