Olivia Jean continues to inspire and its great to see this unique artist and frequent Scion collaborator get the attention she deserves. Jean began her career writing, arranging, recording and mixing all the parts on her surf rock demos and was brought in to Third Man Records family shortly after she turned 19. She joined the Black Belles and the group released a self-titled album in 2011. She also played in the backing band of Third Man artists including Jack White and Wanda Jackson. In this recent article from Elle, she seems to be stepping out of Jack White’s shadow.

Couple weeks ago Jean released her debut album, Bathtub Love Killings, a fierce collection of raw attitude and glammed-up hooks. Before the release of Bathtub Love Killings, Jean put out Scion AV Presents: Olivia — Reminisce a two-song single preview. She also released a video for “Reminisce,” which showcased her skills as a multi-instrumentalists, knocking it out on guitar, bass, keyboards and drums with shiny black nails.

Recently Olivia visited the Scion AV All-Purpose for an extended interview with Prince Paul. She explained how her collaborative relationship with mentor Jack White happened and how she takes full control over her music.

In November, Jean opened “Bathtub Love Killings” at the Scion AV Installation space in Los Angeles. She put the show together and even created a special Olivia Jean Plum Series of Thirdman Records releases. She and her band also played the exhibit’s opening night, packing out the space.

As part of the Scion Collaboration project, Scion will continue working with her on projects, and soon you’ll be able to check out a video that follows Jean as she goes on Scion-sponsored tour of record stores around the country to celebrate the release of Bathtub Love Killing.

Be on the look out for that and more with Jean on ScionAv.com.
